About Jaipur

Jaipur, the capital of India’s Rajasthan state, is a city steeped in history and vibrant color. Famously known as the 'Pink City' for the distinctive hue of its buildings, Jaipur was meticulously planned in the 18th century. It forms part of the world-renowned Golden Triangle tourist circuit, along with Delhi and Agra. The city's crown jewel is the magnificent Amer Fort, a sprawling complex of palaces, halls, and temples perched on a hilltop, offering breathtaking views. A short distance away, the Jal Mahal, or 'Water Palace,' appears to float ethereally in the middle of Man Sagar Lake. In the heart of the old city lies the City Palace, a royal residence that blends Rajasthani and Mughal architecture and houses a museum with a rich collection of artifacts. Adjacent to it is the Hawa Mahal, or 'Palace of Winds,' an extraordinary pink-painted, honeycombed facade with 953 windows, designed to allow royal women to observe street festivities unseen. Jantar Mantar, an astronomical observatory and UNESCO World Heritage site, showcases a collection of massive architectural instruments that are marvels of scientific precision. Jaipur's bazaars are a shopper's paradise, teeming with textiles, gemstones, pottery, and traditional handicrafts. The city’s rich culinary heritage offers delights like Dal Baati Churma and Ghewar. Jaipur is a captivating destination that offers a glimpse into the grandeur and opulence of India's royal past.
